Auxiliary Verbs

This is a review on Auxiliary Verbs - do and does and did. We usually auxiliary verbs in interrogative and negative sentences. Let's see the auxiliary verbs. 

Present Simple

Do and Does

We use do and does to express a routine or habits.

Simple Past 

Auxiliary Verbs
Did

We use did to express an action that finished in the past in a specific time in the past.

Let's compare:

Do you work on weekends?  Yes, I work on weekends. No, I don't work on weekends.
Did you work last weekends? Yes, I worked on weekends. No, I didn't work on weekends.

In the first sentence you talk about  your routine.
In the second sentence you talk about an action that finished in the past in a specific time in the past.

Exercises: Fill in the blanks using do, does or did

Fill in the blanks using negative sentences (don't, doesn't or didn't):
